DENNIS LOVES TO TEACH! Dennis was born and raised in the oil fields of Central Kansas. He is the youngest of three children with a brother in Boca Raton, Florida, a sister in Ellinwood, Kansas and a son, Price, who is attending Kansas State University. (Price is still not convinced that there is a "dad hex" that prevents him from beating his dad at golf). Graduating from Chase High School, Dennis always wanted to be a teacher. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kansas State Teacher's College (now Emporia State University) and began his teaching career in the Emporia school system, instructing Junior High Math as well as coaching football, wrestling and track. Like so many of us, Dennis desired to increase his income (sound familiar, teachers?). The search was on. Dennis then farmed (for more money??), held a small management position, and even worked as a trucker, then it was on to the corporate world. Being too independent for that, Dennis purchased a retail home furnishing business. Divorce and bankruptcy led him to positions in merchandising, marketing, advertising, and finally real estate. Real estate was good to Dennis financially and he was consecutively chosen as a Coldwell Banker President's Elite winner. However, he was frustrated by the lack of comprehensive training for real estate agents. A couple of very good commissions allowed him to take some time off from listing while he gathered information from highly productive agents to compile his training manual "Success Systems". From there it was just a short journey back to education. Dennis has been an adjunct professor in the business department at Hutchinson Community College teaching Principles of Selling, Marketing, Introduction to Business, Small Business Management, and most recently, Principles of Real Estate I & II. He taught for the Kansas Association of Realtors where he wrote and presented classes in Customer Service and Marketing. He was also an instructor for Midwestern Real Estate Institute. The logical progression was to have his own school, Success Real Estate Institute, which is now approved by the Kansas Board of Regents and the Kansas Real Estate Commission in the areas of pre and post licensing, as well as continuing education for license renewal. It was a big circle and the lesson was learned: "Success lies in traveling the road of passionate endeavors." |
